Footwear: Footwear
Everyone needs footwear. It is just a part of the wardrobe that life seems to necessitate. Although, I have heard of a group of people in the Himalayas who refer to themselves as the Skyclad and wear no shoes and few clothes all year round. Its interesting, but is a lifestyle that cannot reasonably be lived by many people.
In the world today, we have to watch out for our feet. The ground is dirty and you never know when you might step on a shard of glass or into a puddle of water. Keeping the feet safe seems one of the primary goals of footwear, although there are now plenty of others.
The Fun Side of Footwear
Besides protecting our feet from the outside world, footwear also gives us another way to express our personalities. Clothing is the main way we put a part of our character onto our surface so that those around us understand us just a little bit without needing to know us. But shoes can be a huge addition to self expression, telling others if you like decadent luxury, are a hard worker, put comfort first, etc.
Another benefit of shoes is that they really do allow us to have more fun. If you want to play basketball, tennis, or go on a hike, each is made more pleasurable by a good pair of comfortable shoes. Over time, we realize that many situations can be enhanced a little just by adding the right footwear to it. Our shoes are small components of the lives we choose to lead and the varied pleasures we seek alng the way.
